OUR GROUP RIDES
The majority of the riders from groups A and B (see home page for group description) meet at the Starbucks at 17967 56 Ave in Cloverdale. Start time for the Saturday ride through the Fall and Winter is 9 am. We head through Cloverdale and meet some of our riders who live in north Langley and Maple Ridge, just east of the Golden Ears Bridge roundabout off 201st on 100a ave for about 9:35am. Riders from group C and D who don’t live close to this location will normally drive and park behind the Velocity Cycles store on 96ave. From there, the groups divide into A, B, C, & D depending on the numbers. Sometimes the C and D groups will ride together. As the fall and winter are almost upon us, the groups tend to slow down a bit from the summer pace.. If the groups are large we will split the As or Bs into two groups respectively. This makes it easier to manage for the ride leaders and also is safer to ride through traffic. On these rides all groups will arrive for coffee halfway through the ride at the McDonald's at 264th and Fraser Hwy in Aldergrove
The ride is approx. 100-120 kms from Cloverdale Starbucks round-trip for the A and B groups. From the Golden Ears Bridge the C group rides about 50-60kms and the D about 40kms depending.
Cycling BC requests that after two rides with a club, you then join the club (for liability and insurance reasons). Print the waiver at left and bring it to a ride or scan and email it to Darin Bentley
This ride is geared towards any and all riders with the theme of "No rider left behind". The size of the turnout will determine whether we break into two groups or not. Simply out of safety and managing the size, if there are 25 or less riders we will do two groups, usually made up of similar ability. The 1st meet point is at the same Starbucks as the Saturday ride, 17967 - 56th ave, Cloverdale at 9:05am
2nd meet point is at the Campbell Heights Tim Horton's, 2711 - 192 street at 9:30am. The ride will be one group and will head off in generally the same direction but is subject to change routes slightly as the season goes on. There could be Tsawwassen or Birch Bay rides in the future. The ride will tend to be in the three hour, 80-100km range at a medium steady pace with no one getting left behind. If that distance or time doesn't suit you for whatever reason, show up anyways and ride for as long as you want and be social then peel off.
Over for 2019
Mission Wednesday Night Races
We are excited to announce our United Velo partnership with Phoenix Velo in Mission, BC.
For the 2019 season all United Velo members can race in the Phoenix Velo events for FREE!
The Wednesday Night races are tons of fun and they will improve your riding ability and fitness.
The great part of this racing is it is on a closed course, used for auto racing. So there isn't any traffic to deal with. Plus the trace is very wide and there is lots of room for groups to pass each other. There course is about 2km long with wide sweeping turns and lots of straights.
Most Wednesday Nights there are 4 different groups to choose from. All groups begin racing this time of year at 6:30pm, but arrive earlier if you are there for the first time. You need to sign in and get a timing chip working.
As the season gets going there will be 8-15 races in each group. The beginner group races for about 35 minutes while the advance group goes for almost an 1 hour.
As you win races and get better you are promoted to the faster groups so there is always a challenge.
Starting in April when the Mission Races start at 7pm there will be a group of people riding from Langley to the races, racing and then riding home.
Meeting Location #1:
80km loop + Race 35km = 115km for the night
